"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience," (Col 3:12)

Jn 1:45-51 ..."Come and see." ...

Jn 1:45-51

Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth. "But Nathanael said to him,"Can anything good come from Nazareth? "Philip said to him, "Come and see."Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,"Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him."Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him,"Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree."Nathanael answered him,"Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel. "Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.  "And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

To get to know Jesus, you need to get close to him. Nathanael learned about Jesus from another of the Apostles, Philip, who told him directly about his experience of Jesus. However, this was not enough for Nathanael and he decided to go out to Jesus himself. Why? Perhaps out of simple curiosity, perhaps out of disbelief, as he said: “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”. However, no matter what the motivation is, as long as it leads to Jesus, it can change our lives. Many people have converted because of the curiosity someone else has planted in their hearts. How did you get to know Jesus? Is there any special moment in your life when He touched your heart, even though you didn't expect anything great from Him? You did not think at all that faith can help you in anything, can be truly useful, that Jesus is some Jew who lived a long time ago, who told some fairy tales about salvation, and whom the wicked people hung on a tree. But when you met Him, you experienced something special, so much so that you chose to follow Him. Bartholomew followed him not because Jesus played a wizard and told him something about the fig tree, but because he felt understood and accepted by him, he felt that Jesus could be trusted that Jesus knew his whole life. Meeting with Jesus should trigger peace and trust in each of us, because Jesus knows our life like no one else, wants to support us and waits for our trust. If we trust Him, we will be able to experience great things in our lives, maybe we will even see the heavens open and the angels of God ascend and descend upon us. We will certainly not be disappointed if we trust in the Lord and we will keep this trust within ourselves every day of our lives.
